Corporate Office Security: A Practical Checklist

Start With an Honest Site Assessment
Most corporate offices layer on security measures reactively — a new access card system here, an extra guard there — without ever stepping back to assess whether the pieces work together. A practical security review starts with the basics: who can enter, who's watching, and what happens when something goes wrong.
Use the checklist below as a starting point for your own site walk-through before your next contract renewal.
- Is every entry point covered by either a guard or access control — not just the main gate?
- Is there a visitor log, and is it actually checked, or just a formality?
- Are CCTV blind spots mapped, and is footage reviewed or just stored?
- Do guards have a clear, written protocol for common incidents — not just verbal instructions?
- Is there a single point of contact who owns security performance, or is it split across departments?
- Are guards rotated and supervised, or does the same person work unsupervised for months?
Turning the Checklist Into Action
If more than two or three of these reveal gaps, it's worth a proper site assessment rather than patching one item at a time. A structured review usually costs nothing and gives you a clear, prioritised list of what to fix first.
